Wolé Akinwunmi is the Event and Member Communities Officer at the Institute of Student Employers. He is passionate about innovative thinking that develops meaningful and relevant event experiences, for creating lasting attendee legacies of member organisations and their representatives. Prior to joining the ISE, Wolé worked in strategic planning and performance management for 12 years within the civil service and in local authority. His other work experiences following this has since involved youth and community engagement within the charity sector, as an event/project delivery consultant and charity administrator.
With an initially rooted technology background, Wolé obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, followed by a postgraduate conversion degree in Housing and Urban Regeneration at Middlesex University. Following his time of government work, his experiences has since centred on service development and delivery of youth and community engagement awareness event seminars and workshops. This led to Wolé retraining and obtaining an Events Management Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of East London.
In addition to his role, Wolé sits on the executive board of the Society of Caribbeans’ and Africans as a volunteer vice chairperson. He also volunteers as culture and heritage event content consultant, to The Next Chosen Generation, Basildon, where he has created content for and delivered bespoke youth conferences and Black History Month events.
