Covid-19 continues to disrupt our industry with some employers now conducting all their interviews and assessments virtually. Will the virus disrupt exams? Schools are already starting to consider delayed A-levels which won’t help apprentice recruiters and university admissions teams. With only 16% of students getting their predicted grades pressure is building for a shake-up to the system. Scottish students could be the first affected as they sit their exams in six-weeks’ time.

If you aren’t hiring through intern programmes than you could be missing on a big slice of the graduate talent market as 60% of students get a job before graduation, according to research from Milkround. The report also showed that non-Russell Group students rely more on internships than their Russell Group peers. This suggests that university and employer social mobility strategies need to include placements.

Women are already under-represented on many graduate programmes so to see the issue appear in our retention date should concern us all.
