DfE exceeds apprenticeship target two years in a row

The Department of Education surpassed the government’s public sector apprenticeship target for the second year in a row, the Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has said.

A total of 116 apprentices were recruited at the department in 2017/18. In 2018/19, this rose to 177, exceeding a target of employing at least 2.3% of their staff as new apprentice every year until 2021.
