Apprenticeship system is failing new starters

In its report, the Resolution Foundation revealed a drop in 'lower quality' apprenticeships. It raised concerns that these were being driven out by higher-level programmes offered to established employees.

The report also found that there were 25% fewer apprenticeships starts in 2017/18 as compared to 2014/15.

The Resolution Foundation is calling for the core objective of the apprenticeship system to be prioritised: to offer young people a clear route to labour market.
