75 per cent of Trainees move on to work or further study

The skills minister "thrilled" to see how traineeships are "supporting young people to start their apprenticeship journey, get their first job or go to further study."

Three-quarters of learners go onto start an apprenticeship, further study or get a job within year of completing their programme.

Nonetheless, an FE Week investigation in 2018 found that colleges had delivered less than a quarter of traineeships in 2016/17, and nearly half across the country had no starts whatsoever.
