Best School-leaver and Apprentice Development Programme Award 2018

Best School-leaver and Apprentice Development Programme Award

Apprentices and school-leavers may need further support with developing the softer workplace skills, such as communication and team work, having not attended a university, where these are often developed, meaning a different approach is needed in their development. There are different types of programmes, varying in duration, objectives, and target audience etc. – all programmes are eligible for this award. Using the criteria below, we are looking for the organisation which provides the best overall school-leaver and apprentice programme development, both during and post programme.

Award Assessment Criteria:

  •  Vision – Is there a clear vision for the understanding and behaviour shift you are aiming to achieve in order to help the students achieve success in your organisation?  How did you arrive at this vision?
  • Description of key elements – What activities do you use to develop the softer skills such as communication, teamwork? What support do you provide to aid the development of these soft skills? What are the plans for post-programme development, and how do you intend to track this?
  • Support – Who are the stakeholders who are involved in helping the school-leavers and apprentices make a successful transition? How do you ensure consistency & high quality advice provided by these stakeholders? What is your involvement with secondary education institutions?
  • Impact – Does it make a difference?  Does the programme deliver strategic benefit to the organisation, and how does it do so?
