ISE Workshop: Optimising your employer engagement for the post-Covid world

About the course

Covid-19 has had a major impact on almost every aspect of our lives. ISE research has demonstrated that it has already re-configured the way in which employers run their entry-level recruitment and work with universities, colleges and schools. Most employers are anticipating that their shift to online and distance approaches to recruitment will continue throughout the 2020/2021 season and beyond. This raises big questions for careers services and other employer engagement professionals. In a world in which employers are not coming onto campus, attending careers fairs or giving face-to-face workshops how can you restructure your employer engagement activity in a way that makes it impactful?

The masterclass will consist of a mixture of presentations, discussion and activities. Participants will be provided with all workshop slides and materials to use in their own practice following the masterclass.

By the end of the workshop participants will:

  • have a strong understanding of the changes in recruitment that have resulted from Covid-19;
  • be able to describe a range of different approaches to employer engagement that make use of online and digital technologies;
  • have discussed the offers and strengths and weaknesses of a range of suppliers who are offering digital brokerage and other online services;
  • have considered how you can prepare your students effectively to stand out in online careers fairs and digital employer interactions;
  • have undertaken a business planning process and considered whether employer engagement still offers a revenue generating opportunity for educational institutions
