Within this 3-hour session we will be covering some of the hottest issues in the Retail and FMCG sector in the student recruitment and development industry with insight into the latest trends. This event will allow you to network amongst your peers and gain further insight into the challenges they are currently facing and how to overcome them.
14:00 – Welcome and introductions
14:20 – Tristram Hooley – Insights into student recruitment survey 2019 (sector specific)
15:15 – Refreshment break
15:30 – Knowledge Share Session
> Update on how the graduate/ placement campaigns have gone this year and discuss any changes that we have experienced from other years
> Careers fairs – have there been regional discrepancies with turnouts / quality of students this milkround season
> Diversity targets – How are you being held accountable for them?
> Doing more with less – budgets getting slashed and vacancies not being backfilled. It’s a struggle to get the day job done.
> Busting the myth of retail – the external perception that all retailers are going under
> Managing graduate expectations of working in shops to give an accurate representation of the job, without turning people off. What others are doing with their schemes that are at the forefront of retail, the real face of it, to keep the grads applying to keep them keen and involved in the scheme etc? Or, are we really seeing the death of that sort of grad scheme perhaps to apprenticeships?
> Siloed business units and the impact on cross-functional grad schemes
> Line manager engagement and capability
> Apprentice Mental Health – Work vs Learning. Providing the support required but managing work commitments. Are you doing anything additional from a mental health and well-being POV in the EC space over and above the rest of the business especially since the intro of more apprenticeships and younger people coming into the workforce. Or do you think it’s a case of making sure that the current company offer is fit for this younger generation?
> Success Rates – Quantity vs Quality
16:30/16:45 – Forum end
