> Session1: The Jaguar Land Rover Learning Academy Presented by Graham Thompsett, People Capability Director, Jaguar Land Rover

Jaguar Land Rover will be discussing the Learning Academy. We will take take listeners on a journey of how and why Jaguar Land Rover are creating a true Learning Academy. This will include embracing the Employer Value Proposition and changing the focus of learning from a traditional paternalistic classroom led approach to one driven by curiosity.

> Session 2: Developing Mental Fitness in Early Careers Talent

Ruth Cooper-Dickson is the founder and Managing Director of Champs: a global mental wealth and wellbeing consultancy for forward-thinking businesses who want to build a thriving culture of wellness at work. Ruth and her team bring difficult subjects like workplace mental health to life… without the dry presentations, boring workshops or cringe-inducing role play!

There are increasing levels of reported mental health disclosure at Higher Education institutions and the transition from education to working life can be a huge trigger for stress. In 2017, 74% of people were so stressed that they felt overwhelmed or unable to cope. Champs has created a Mental Fitness programme for early careers talent to build resilience, recognise the signs of being overwhelmed and how to build a personal tool-box to manage your mental wealth.

John Carson works for Jaguar Land Rover as the Managing Director of the home of their Academy – Ashorne Hill. With a work experience spanning over 30 years, he has served both in the military and industry in a variety of roles, all of which having a ‘people’ focus. He has worked for Jaguar Land Rover, Tata Steel, British Aerospace and the Royal Navy. His career included positions such as Head of Graduate Recruitment, HR Director and Head of Leadership Development.

A post graduate in Global Economics and Politics from Kings College London, John has done extensive work in the areas of HR strategy and policy formation, design of innovative people processes and integrated performance management. He has also substantial experience in HR due diligence during mergers and acquisitions (M&A). He has always considered it a privilege to be part of a function that adds real value to business through the development of people.
